Based on other reviews I'm guessing this place is hit or miss based on crowd and service, but we had a great time. We'd seen it earlier in the week and decided to hit it up early in the day for drinks and some lounging. We arrived shortly after opening on a Thursday morning in the off season, so the crowd was light and chill. The service was excellent-- our server took our initial drink orders and checked in with us regularly (but not in a rushing way) to see if we wanted food. Eventually yes, we did, and we were super impressed! A place like this, really focused on being a hotspot for parties, the food could easily suck and they'd do just fine anyhow. But our seafood baskets (conch for me, oysters for my husband) were really excellent. I stuck with margaritas for the day (very tasty), my husband toured a handful of rum drinks and all were good. Pricy, for what it all is, but you're paying for the space in addition to your food/drinks, so I get it. $50 minimum, but if you're there for more than a drink or two or you have more than two people you'll hit that easily. I enjoyed it and would go back.

As soon as I got off the key west express this is the first place I stopped... Can't beat a bar with a pool with beautiful people... Grabbed a couple beers and stuck my feet in the water while planning out my day... Something about topless men and water with beer makes my day!!!! I've always loved this place and plan to come back soon

Best Pool party in Key West!!!! Great for Groups Bachelor/rette Parties!!! Great place to go with a group of friends to enjoy a Hot Summer Day!!! Ambience: This place has a very hip ambience...They have a live DJ playing popular hits... Great place to enjoy your afternoon if you are looking for fun ambience... We went for my Bachelorette party and we had a blast with 11 girls. If you are looking for something quiet I recommend you go somewhere else. Otherwise this is the "Spot" you don't want to miss checking out!!! Food: The menu has a very decent variety and decently priced. Drinks: Full Bar decently priced

This is somewhere you have to be at and form your own opinion. It's highly regarded in my circle of friends and warrants a trip to Key West alone. I strongly urge you to cast aside any preconceived notion you have and check it out for yourself. And order a mudslide!

the place is good.. alot of fun.. we stopped in for a bite and drink after biking for a bit. It was hot.. very hot.. and the pool was tempting. However, we werent prepared for the pool so we actually left, went to our hotel, got our swimsuits and towels and biked back.. a few "Key Disease" cocktails a d a bucket of corona later and we were feeling just fiiiiiiiiiine... we will be back.

I was pretty bummed when I saw that the pool at my hotel in Key West had a shaded pool. I had dreamed of spending the day laying by the pool and sipping on fruity cocktails. Luckily, because of the internet I was able to find Dante's! This is a public restaurant/pool bar right on the water in Key West. It was a slower day when I was there. There was good music playing and our waitress checked on us often. As for the drinks, I was there for quite a while so I got to sample quite a few: Poolside Daydream, Keys Disease, Banana Daiquiri, and Mango Daiquiri. Out of all of them, the Mango Daiquiri was by far my favorite. The mango flavor was just perfect on a warm day. For lunch we ordered Conch Fritters to start. The Key Lime Mustard was superb and these were some really fresh and tasty Fritters. For my meal I got Chili Nachos (I know, what lady orders Chili Nachos at the pool? THIS LADY). They were good, but a bit too much to eat in the sun. My husband got the Club Sandwich, wasn't crazy about it but still enjoyed it. Dante's is a perfect spot to chill in the tropical paradise that is Key West. I will be making another stop here on my next visit!

Heck. Yes. This place was poppin all day! DJ and pool drinking?! Always a great pair. My only recommendations would be to have lockers or something to put your belongings

Came here for lunch one day mainly to hang out at the pool. Luckily we arrived early enough to ensure that no one had urinated in the pool yet and that we'd be swimming in a summer fresh pool. When we came there was only one other table dining in, a two top as opposed to our five top. There were about ten employees. In my mind that ensures that we should each AT LEAST get one personal server each plus part of an assistants time. Unfortunately we had a server who's time was better spent texting or sitting at the bar while the food runners ran the food. Actually, we had multiple food runners approach our table more than the server. We ordered nachos first and were ready to order our main meal shortly after, but couldn't manage to get our servers attention (I tried waving her down but she was sitting behind the register at the bar making it impossible to get her attention. Clever girl.) that's okay, we'll order when she runs our appetizer... Damnit! It's the food runner! But by the time our nachos were devoured she was ready to take our order. I should mention the only reason she came back to our table was because someone from the other table got up to get her. Sadly when our meals came out, they were pretty cold. To be fair, everything was delicious (that coconut shrimp sauce, amirite?!) but I imagine our food would have been hotter if our server actually ran it in a timely manner. I imagine the food runner in the back screaming "I'm not running her food again, I'm not!!" Then after ten more minutes of our server avoiding the kitchen, he gave up and said "OK!! I'll run it but just this one last time!" Meanwhile, while eating, someone stepped waist deep in the pool then immediately got out. There goes that urine free pool. She became more attentive throughout the meal but she definitely needs to be more attentive. The place is great with a good vibe, but the servers are all this inattentive, I can't imagine coming back frequently.

Came in for a Thursday morning brunch to be trendy before heading back to Ft Lauderdale. We got there just after they opened, so obviously the place was pretty dead. Fine by me, had hoped that'd mean awesome service. Unfortunately, not so much. Coming from the service industry, I know there has to at least be a check back to make sure all of food was correct. I'll give the girl the benefit of doubt and assume she just forgot to add the extra shot of espresso Dunkin Donuts always tries to upsell. However, the food was actually good so I won't leave my review based on that alone. We headed over to the pool after a brief thirty minute break to make sure I didn't blow chunks. Not wanting to sit around and not order something I asked for a bucket of bud light lime. I handed over my card to have the girl just close the tab. She came back with my check, I immediately thought there was a mix up. My bucket of bud light lime cost me $37. UMWHAT? Stupid of me to not ask prices, but I got charged for 6 individual beers as opposed to a typical bucket. Wait, so if buckets don't actually exist on your menu, a little heads up would be nice. Not including the tax, each beer averages me almost $6 for a domestic. Next time at least ask how many single beers I'd like if that's what I'm getting charged for. Cool location, but I don't enjoy getting raped that early in the day.

My wife and I went there this Labor Day weekend. As we sat down the cocktail server greeted us with two glasses of ice water. The service was amazing. The drinks were great and not too expensive considering this is Key West. On Sunday the place was crowded and had a DJ. They let the young crowd play beer pong in the water and while i was much older than the majority of the crowd, I still had a great time and no one bothered us. They let you drink in the pool and also let me smoke my cigar. Most important the pool was very clean. This place is only a few blocks off of Duval street and if you are looking for a pool party, this is the place to go. Will definitely return when I visit Key West. We ordered the chicken nachos and thought they were great.

The main pic for this yelp page is all you need to know about Dante's - 2 cougars in pasties enjoying some libations. Dante's is not a place to come to relax. DJ "Guns" was blasting music by the pool at about 5,000 decibels so it would be pretty impossible to doze off in your lawn chair. I guess I would describe this as Key West's version of a vegas pool party except instead of strippers and meat heads you have a the usual Keys wide variety of constituents coming to party. The pups didn't come out while we were there, but I imagine that Fantasy fest is a different story. We were here in early February so it was warm enough to lay out but no one was in the pool unless they were from Minnesota. The wait staff here was awesome though as we were never in need of another drink. The pool itself is pretty nice with a large waterfall in the back. I did see some dudes in the pool that were playing floating beer pong and never left in 4 hours to go pee.....just saying. Overall this is a fun place to get some rays and people watch - but be warned it is a tad bit cheesy. DJ Guns also repeated songs on his playlist while we were there which is a no-no. I guess if I would have been more blasted I wouldn't have noticed. If you are looking for a quiet pool to relax then I would go elsewhere.

This place is rockin!! The best pool party you can go to in the keys! Throw in a nice pool, cruzan rum bar, live music, a dj - you cannot go wrong with that! Great place to enjoy, relax and have some fun in the pool (with your Cruzan), all throughout the day. Great ambience! If you are in the keys, you should definitely give it a visit! Verdict: Do not miss! Must Visit!

  • Tommy M.

Wow this place was a great place to wait for the trip back on the key west express. Drinks were really good staff was friendly. Don't like that I had to have a 50.00 min tab to sit under the umbrella around the pool.

  • Cheryl R.

We shared a shrimp, avocado, mango salad that was generous with shrimp and an order of catch of the day fish and chips. The catch was Mahi Mahi which was fresh but just a bit over breaded. It's great to have lunch poolside- a few quick dips help in the July heat. However, AVOID this place on weekends when the pool is packed and there is a $50 minimum just to sit at a table. The water looked suspiciously cloudy and standing shoulder to shoulder with partiers in tainted pool water just isn't my thing.

  • Frank T.

Always love coming here during our trips to the keys. We usually get there fairly early to lock down a table. Then we usually spend the next 4-5 hours ordering drink after drink, munching on conch fritters, nachos, etc. FYI- you have to spend over $50 to have a table by the pool.

I had a great time at Dante's. It was a really chill place to sit and get some drinks. I visited Key West during a not so busy weekend so I probably didn't get the full Dante's experience, but still I loved it.

I love this place! I always have to go when I'm in town. They have tasty drinks pool side. The guy that served me the other day, (dreads and tattoos) sorry I don't remember names well, was awesome and completely on point. I didn't get to try the food because I kept getting full on sweet drinks. I've heard it's good. Did I say there's a pool? A huge salt water pool with waterfall attached! It's the best way to spend a day jellyfish free! Also you always meet a character or two. It's great for people watching.

  • Amy M.

Pool area and restaurant were nice and clean. A great way to spend a hot afternoon relaxing. If you order at the pool it is waiter service only. You can't go up to the bar and order as well. They were fairly strict about this. Drinks run about $10 for mixed drinks.

Dante's is an amazing restaurant and a pool bar, and is quite close to the ocean as well. During the week, it is fairly quiet and the restaurant serves up some amazing food. All seating is outdoors but has a good amount of shade, or the open if wanted. During the weekend, Saturday is particular, Dante's turns into a day pool party. I had the pleasure of visiting on both occasions. During the week, the group of friends and I went fishing and got lucky enough to catch two Mahi tuna. We brought the freshly filleted Mahi to Dante's and they cooked it, deliciously, 3 ways. Grilled, fried and blackened. The price was incredible as well. As it goes with saturday. If you are in the mood to party hard, have a couple of red bulls prior.

Its a bar with a pool. What else can I say. Perfect for partying. Not so perfect for the middle-aged.

Oh Dantes... This place is a must on any key west trip. Pasties, floating pong tables, non-judgmental waitresses, and a DJ that just won't quit. Get there early and snag an umbrella right by the pool for the 360 people watching and best drink service around. Highly recommend, just remember to not go under water...

Been here many times and to KW at least a Thousand more. I love chillin by the pool when it's not too busy. I prefer the stereo or radio selection to Djs but that's just me. All of the food I've had has been great. My family who lives down here were excited to see hotdogs on the menu (after Checkers closed). I've had the prime rib at night which was great. I've also had a roast beef sandwich, nachos, shrimp - all good. My fav was a battered and fried chicken finger (huge) with bacon, ranch, and cheddar. I could only eat half but it rocked. I also like the poolside day dream drink and piña coladas.

Dante's was definitely a surprise. When my coworkers dragged me to lunch I expected a tourist infested hell hole with mediocre food, an over priced bar, and a horrifying pool. I was instead rewarded with a moderately priced establishments that was relatively quiet on a beautiful Thursday afternoon. The drinks were meh and served in plastic cups, but it matched the super laid back pool atmosphere. The food was the real surprise, a cheap and diverse menu offered options for any palette, especially true for the fans of seafood. Quesadillas the size of hub caps will challenge any eater, and everything from seared tuna to a burger was enjoyed. Being a man of Cape Cod I consider myself bit of a seafood expert and oyster aficionado, and the biggest surprise of all was Dante's Oysters. Big, juicy, favorable and fresh, these bad boys went down smooth. My biggest regret was not bringing my swim suit! If its a warm summer day, expect to be hot (no indoor seating). But that's what the pool is for!

Must go if you're in key west! Great environment for a fun drinking environment. Family friendly but wouldn't necessarily recommend taking kids. So much fun though if you're looking to enjoy the sunshine and drinks!

We brought our own fish and it was prepared ok. One of our party ordered a steak and it was the worse steak he ever ate. The service was basically non-existant. Heather was busy wrapping up her evening so our drinks were rarely refilled. We were there later in the evening on a Tuesday. We will not return. Probably a good place when the pool is open??

*4 Stars only for lack of service. You got a great thing going great food, a fun place to relax and enjoy a drink even take a dip in a pool. The food menu has a great variety. I'd say this would be #1 in key west as far as things to do! Your sitting on a gold mine. The only thing is you need great service, great food and great atmosphere to be #1. Maybe this was a fluke and I got the one non personable server who'd rather put her feet up at the bar than attend to her tables. I'd come back time and again but when I am the only table I would guess that you would want to take care of me to get me to tip you above and beyond. When you look like your too hung over and don't want to be here or talk to us, it ruins the experience. The food runner was more of a server and personable than our server. I hope my next vacation trip to Dante's is a better more personal experience service wise. Sometimes one employee can make an impression for the business but when the key west environment I'm hoping for better service next time. Thank you! :) Don't take my review the wrong way. A must do for Key West but I can only review based on my experience.

Food sucked. Mac and cheese was recommended and it was awful. I could have done better at home. We brought our own fish in to be cooked from the Tortuga fishing we did earlier in the day, they must get a kick back, but ine of us got sick later that no ghr from the breaded fish. ...must be their bread mixture because I was fine. Great people watching thpugh and our waiter was good and tried hard. He paid good attention to is and no complaints with him. We just could have cooked it better ourselves.

I have been to KW many many times and never come here before! My sister in law found this place online and we decided to go check it out, what a great place! Great music, awesome pool, lots of chars and tables nearby for your things. Everything was awesome! We set up at the perfect spot near the bathrooms, the bar, and the pool. It was lovely to hang out here for a couple of hours. I will definitely be back.

Pretty cool set up. Basically, a bar with a pool nearby and a huge pool deck. Nice scenery on the ladies front. Then you have us drunk assholes pounding beers in the middle of the pool. The only thing they're missing is servers in the pool. I'm not sure how we ended up here, but I'd shoot for a mid-late afternoon arrival. I also wouldn't recommend putting your head underwater...

This place has a public pool. Get there early if you want a lounge chair. There aren't many and people seem to keep them all day. You can still sit at a table, but there is a $50 minimum. The food and drinks are reasonably priced. They have a lot of specialty drinks. I liked the Orange crush. The pool was clean and nice but really cold. Most people did not go in because of the water temperature. Service was good and friendly. Bring your own towel.

Wanna party during the day with some attractive, albeit intoxicated (or on their way there), people? This is the spot. Rockin' pool, two bars, solid overpriced drinks, DJ playin the top 40: welcome homies. The conch fritters are not top notch but drunkies don't know the difference (fish tacos were slammin' though). Sweet staff and a cool vibe overlooking the harbor. I'd gladly go again but don't expect more than a glorified adult pool with the occasionally drunko Ono slipping and busting their ass.

  • Jenny I.

Great atmosphere if you're looking for that "Spring Break" type of party. $5 appetizers on Monday-Friday. Poolside Day Dream is a must try! Pool pong available if you request it from the waiters. Go see Jay at the bar! Military discount-10% except off of the happy hour menu.

I've been here a few times before while visiting friends in Key West for drinks and to swim in the pool. It's one of the only, if not the only, non-hotel bar with a pool near Duval St area. This time we had lunch. Service was kind of poor. We had a group of 10 people, so I will cut them some slack, but they brought the wrong order for 2 of us and we had to wait another 15 minutes, and nothing was discounted for the inconvenience. After the waitress brought all of us water, she never came back to ask if we wanted anything else to drink besides water. Each time we needed something, we had to flag someone down. The staff seemed very aloof and distant. It was around 12 noon on a Sunday though. Food is a bit pricey, but they do give big portions. Fresh cut fries with my fish sandwich were excellent, as were the conch fritters. 4 stars for the food, 3 for the prices, 2 for the service = 3 stars.

Nah, really don't like this place. Not at all a relaxing place. Food is ok, but nothing at all to write home about. Just not what I want to do while in KW. I enjoy the nature part...........like the ocean.

  • Alex C.

This was ok. The atmosphere seemed cool but all the furniture and stuff was very outdated. Reminded me of a country club in the early 90s. Would be a cool place to hang out for the pool but we had lunch and I wasn't impressed with the drink or the salad I got. Service was pretty good and there was a cool looking fountain and waterfall in the pool. There was also a funny sign out front so that helped.

We were in Key West for a few days and decided to try Dante's on a recommendation from a friend. Very cool, laid back place. It reminded me of Monty's in SoBe but this one has actually better food. Our waitress was super friendly and nice. She even sat at the table with us at some point!. Cool chick. The entertainment sucked though. They had this guy on a solo show and his voice was terrible (sorry dude, don't quit your day job!), however he could actually play the guitar so perhaps he should stick to that on not sing?. We were actually just waiting for the moment he's shut up. Which he did eventually. But i digress, to the important thing: the food!!. It was very fresh. Very nice. We tried a few things and it was all good. The ceviche was very yummy, the perfect amount of lime and salt on it. The conch chowder was solid, the yellowtail was seasoned perfectly and was super fresh and even the vegetables and mashed potatoes were good. Try it out when you come to key west. The margaritas were also good!.

I came here for drinks after getting my scuba diving certification-- the bartender made drinks just the way I requested and the atmosphere was casual and fun. I think I came on quite an empty night, however. It's nice that they have their own pool!

Brought our fresh catch of snapper and mackerel to be prepared here to Dante's, service was very attentive and pleasing. They did a fantastic job on the blackened and grilled fish, the mack and cheese is to die for & the fries are of the best we've had (hint: dip em in the tartar sauce, the flavors blend perfectly). We took our weekend getaway to Key West. We tried Dante restaurant and the food was great. We ate milanese mahi and coconut shrimp. It was delicious. Will definitely be going back here. Great presentation. To top it all off very good military discount. They also have a huge beautiful pool

Headed here as soon as my plane touched down . Had the Cuban mix on my mind but changed to the shrimp poboy . I just thought I had a good poboy at other places ! This one was head and shoulders above any I have ever had ! The sandwich along with the best conch fritters and best piña colodas on the island was well worth the price of admission . There is no admission price , just making a comparison . Note , have had the Cuban mix before here and is excellent so you could understand why I had it on my brain . The service is very good and the sandwiches are huge . Will be back in the future .

This review is strictly for dinner at the restaurant in the evening (and not the pool bar at noon which resembled a frat party at the Univ. of Miami). We were steered towards Dante's by some local fishermen. Beautiful open air seating adjacent to the marina. Even on a hot, humid night... the trade winds keep you cool. After a productive day of fishing on the Tortuga, we headed to Dante's with over 3 lbs of our freshly caught filets of yellowtail and grunts. For a mere $8.00 per person, you can have your catch grilled, blackened or fried. Additionally, you get a choice of 3 sides. We choose the hand cut fries ( delicious & crispy), the macaroni & cheese ( the mate on the ship recommended this and it was awesome! Who would have thought Key West has a heavenly version of this comfort foood...but the creamy, white cheddar sauce over elbow macaroni was really amazing. Some of the best Mac & Cheese I've had). The side of grilled veggies was bursting with flavor and prepared perfectly, not mushy at all. Our server, like every servers we encountered in Key West, was warm, friendly and attentive. Such a nice guy. As soon as we walked in and showed him our fish he declared, "Oh! You're here for the hook & cook!" This was the last meal of our Key West vacation and was our most memorable. From our fishing line to the dinner table, feasting on your fresh catch is a gratifying feeling. Dante's did a superb job of preparing our fish & making us feel like expert anglers.

We rolled off the Ft. Myers ferry and right into Dante's with luggage still in tow for a great lunch. Dante's is outside, around a pool. The menu is typical bar-type lunch food and was very good. I love the french fries, which are cut flat and long--like a sandwich pickle. We usually make a point to eat here at least once on each trip to Key West.

The minute I walked into this place I saw a middle aged woman with giant knockers and only shiny star diamond pasties on in the pool.... This pretty much made it the best pool bar i've ever been to.

Super cool casual dining priced like I'm was back home. Tasty salads and sandwiches. The fruit was really fresh. And the fries were totally great, like mom makes. This place has a pool and had I known that we would have made an afternoon of it. Really great for all ages. The harbor walk is right there at the back door, so your just a minute from the sunset. Loved it, and next time I'm brining my suit!

The atmosphere is great, but the service was the worst service I've had anywhere in the world, not an exaggeration. Had to get up and search out a waitress to get a menu, order food, and get more water and when we found one waitress she told us we had to go find the waitress that was assigned to our section on our own. The waitresses were extremely rude and clearly drinking. Food was fine once we finally got it.

This is nice pool bar on the waterfront at the Conch harbor marina. They have a DJ playing music. They attract a big crowd here. The service was good and they had some games on the TV's.

Visited Dante's while on a scoping trip for our desination wedding in KW. We saw a wedding on the beach and asked where the reception was being held (and were subsequently called wedding crashers, haha). They said Dante's, so we headed over for a few beers to check out the place. OK, if you are getting married in Key West, please do not have your reception here. Now, that is not to say this place is not cool- it's pretty awesome with the pool in the middle, the huge bar, good beer prices, and lots of seating. It's a great spot for hanging out for an afternoon and slowly getting plastered- which is the whole reason for going to Key West, correct? But it is definitely not a place to have your wedding reception. That is all.

Bartender was an unprofessional jerk (Blonde woman with a pink bun?). We had one drink and the bartender left the bar. We were moving to get in the sun. It was very windy so my husband said we will tip her when we leave (so her tip didn't blow away and she wasn't there at the time), just as we rounded the corner to sit she came over to us and asked if "her tip had blown away" I said "no, we had just talked about that and we didn't want that to happen so we were going to take care of you on the way out". She said "I've heard that before". I was incredulous - as anyone knows - we are generous tippers (and we both had bartended in the past). I said to my husband "OMG she thinks we weren't going to tip her, she thinks we're cheap". She never apologized or even looked embarrassed. He put down a nice tip, we finished our drinks, did not order lunch or another drink and we will never be back. Low class.

Me and a bunch of friends went here for my bachelor party and had a blast. Definitely reminded me of a college spring break dance party. I say go if you plan on drinking a lot and getting wild. If you aren't into that, odds are you won't dig this spot.

Music pool and bar scene was cool. Food was average. Conch chowder was good. Coconut shrimp was too sweet. Service was slow. Good place to party but not to eat.

Not very kid friendly, but after about five or six the dj goes away and an acoustic guitarist takes his place. At this time it becomes more kid friendly. We brought some fish that we caught and they cooked it up and it tasted delicious...and it was a good price too. We ordered Mac and cheese as two of our sides and it was amazing.

The food is surprisingly amazing. I have gone with a big group several times and I always see different meals being ordered and always hear nothing but great things. During the afternoon in the weekend it is super packed with so many people in the pool and usually a DJ is playing popular music. The best times to go is anytime during the weekday and for dinner during the weekend. The locals love to rent out the stage and a section for parties and events

This was always our last stop for happy hour....great atmosphere with an open air bar by the water and nestled around a huge swimming pool. During the day this place, so I hear, can end up resembling a frat party, but at night its a great spot to have a drink. I'm not going to be one to turn down a $1.75 brew...that's for sure.

Great ribs, burgers and pork tenderloin! Need a recommendation listen to Duck the manager, but don't hold it against him that he's from Alabama! Alyssa was a great waitress. Mushroom soup was awesome!

Right after we got off our fishing charter, we stepped into Dante's. Right when we got there the staff greeted us and was extremely friendly and told us our fish that we caught could be 'hooked and cooked' with two sides for only 7.98. Our fish was delicious and came out quick. The fries are really good and so is the slaw- but our fish came out simply amazing! Light batter and was fried to perfection. Also It is the middle Of the slow season and Dante's was popping off! Lots of people in the pool having fun and drinking- it looked like a great party spot! We were too tired after being on the water but this place is a great place to party in key west and the food is killer. Definitely recommend.

Dante's is our FAVORITE go-to place in Key West. Their food is excellent and drinks even more so. The only thing better is the incredible staff that make you feel at home. We actually loved this place so much, we held our wedding reception here last weekend and the service, food, drinks and atmosphere were impeccable, MUCH to the delight of all our guests. I wish we could do it all over again. We stop here on a nearly daily basis when the weather is nice, and suggest you do the same. Try the Bushwacker!

  • Allie S.

Bring your fish here after you catch it! For a good price, they will cook it blackened, fried, or grilled. You also get a side! Dante's has good no-nonsense food with a relaxing pool atmosphere. I will be coming back next time!

She crab soup is a must . Great service nice pool. I have been to key west more than two dozen time and this was my first visit here. You have so many choices when you get to key west but this one is a must. Did I mention the she crab soup????

My only problem is that they allow children here. Didn't go in the pool because it had about ten kids splashing around. We come to Key West to relax and have fun. Keep your kids at the hotel pool, not here!

  • Meghan A.

Had moderate-to-low expectations, being that this place is a public pool, but the food and service were both fantastic! Allison, our bartender, was very friendly and hospitable. The conch fritters were great-- especially the key lime mustard sauce that came with. The Cuban with fresh cut French fries was also delicious and huge. Possibly the biggest surprise was the bathrooms-- very, very clean!! (Again, not something you'd expect from a public pool place.) Wish we'd been able to enjoy the livelihood of this place on a sunny day. Look forward to returning one day!

A place for the not so serious. Bar grub food drinks, and wonderful friendly service. Key lime mojito for the win. The nachos were big and split among the four of us. There was entertainment and a pool you could swim in. You can't take anything serious here, because it's just a really good time.

Quite impressed! All day happy hour, and my first foray into the world of stone crabs (love 'em!). I personally ordered the fish sandwich, hubby the conch fritters. Both were delivered in a most timely fashion and we're delicious. There is a pool here it appears is available to the patrons of the restaurant (wow!). Where else can you find that?!

  • Judy G.

Staff are pleasant but the music is horrible. Most of the people were really drunk and probably beyond hearing anything. We saw one young woman trying to undress in the restaurant. I didn't see anyone being carded and no one that we saw had there liquor supply halted. Moral of the story: if you have money, you can drink any amount of alcohol. Must be hard on the staff. Oh, by the way, we saw one guy vomit in the pool...nasty place!!

    (1)
  • Cheryl L.

Wouldn't say this was for the kids. Some scantily clad people of all ages, mainly young beautiful people... were playing with an inflatable sex doll in the pool while we ate dinner. The food was good, beer was cold, service was good. Right by the ferry dock for Key West Express, great stop to pass the time while you wait for your boat to load. Seriously not what I'd think of for kids, two poolside bars, alcohol in the water (with aluminum bottles) and just a little risque for anyone under 18, IMHO.

Four stars for being a great wharfside bar. Bring in your freshly caught fish, and they will cook up A dinner with it!

  • Courtney M.

We brought our fresh catch of the day in a they cooked it for us - fried and blackened. It was delicious! The portion sizes of the sides were more than enough and very tasty! The atmosphere was wonderful but the staff was nothing to brag about.

This is the only negative Key West review I've written - I generally focus on writing reviews of the places I like, and don't bother with reviewing the rest, but the unusually poor service prompted me to write this one. First the good: it's got kind of a cool ambiance, with pool, long picnic tables, lights, etc., but it was totally dead when we were there -- there was live music for a few minutes, but he stopped abruptly when happy hour ended at 8 pm. We arrived at 7:45 and wanted to order some happy hour items from the raw bar. Our server was not very friendly or helpful. He told us that we'd missed happy hour, because it was based on their clock, which was 10 minutes fast. I told him we had come specifically for the happy hour, and since we still had 15 minutes based on "real" time, despite what their clock said, we'd like to order. He said he'd give it a try, but wasn't promising anything. Very annoying, but when we got the bill, we did get happy hour prices for our first round. We came here for the oysters ($8/dozen during happy hr), but they weren't very good - the ones at A&B Lobster were much better. The shrimp was good but not super cheap ($20/lb on happy hr, $28/lb after happy hr). Don't think we'll go back, at least this trip. Might be better in the summer.

  • Joe W.

Horrible service, and very very bland food. The waiter "John" had to return to our table and ask us what we ordered as he forgot. Roughly 10 minutes had gone by before he came back to ask us that question. Don't waste your time ordering the Po'Boy w/conch or the chicken cordon blue, you'll be majorly disappointed!

Perfect place to relax with friends on hot sunny days. The beach areas around here are not worth the visit (on Key West) so it is a great change of atmosphere. Perfect location as well. The pool gets very crowded especially on weekends so we would suggest going early or late afternoon. There is a DJ that plays a very good mix of music for all ages. We had great food here each time we visited, which we were pleasantly surprised with. (Didn't have high expectations at first for pool bar food). The service is good accordingly to the amount of volume they produce, when it is busy the drinks take a while but the servers are very attentive. The only negative I could really comment on is the amount of "college/frat" type visitors that become drunk and obnoxious. I would not bring small children there to swim.

Cool place. Didn't get any food - just had some drinks and hung out in the pool. Snagged one of the poolside tables with my friends. There's a $50 minimum but with 3 friends that wasn't a problem after a couple rounds. Our server stopped by frequently and would deliver our drinks to us while we were in the pool. There was a DJ playing top 40 dance music which was cool. Starting at 4pm all drinks were 40% off for happy hour. At 23, we were probably the youngest people there, but it was a fun mixed crowd. Overall just a cool place to spend a beautiful day in Key West.

I'm a fan of Dante's! My teenager and I stopped in for lunch and wre surprised at how good the fish and chips were! It was a huge portion of fried fresh Mahi pieces and good home fries. This was one of the best values we had in the Keys. We saw a large table of Coast Guard men eating sandwiches that looked great. I heard several of them say how good the burgers and sandwiches tasted. I'll be back here soon. The atmosphere is outdoor dining and bar area with a large swimming pool. I was told that anyone is welcome to swim if you are dining. Not sure if that includes just drinking. The place was very cool with a waterfall into a large pool and plenty of space to lay out or get out of the sun in a dining area or bar. Great place to hang out with friends.

Loved this place on my trip to KW. Sadly, I only got there the day before we left around 4pm. We hit up the pool bar and had a great time. Casual pool party fun. Definitely recommend coming over here during the day to party and check out the people. Good DJ spinning and it definitely gets really fun!

We are longtime visitors to Key West, but have never been here. We decided to try something new so went on a Sunday afternoon. Honestly, it reminded of a college frat party...lots of young people in the pool (and a few middle agers pretending to be young), pitchers of beer, loud music. Lots of eye candy, but not my scene. The food was so-so as was the service. Doubt we'll go back.

If you're looking for a great party place with a pool any time of the day, you found your spot. Cold beer, creative drinks and decent food - all while you take in some of the best people watching anywhere. And if you're taking the Key West Express back to Ft. Meyers, just plan to spend your whole day here - great place!

Best crab soup I have ever had! I even ordered a second bowl instead of having dessert. I also recommend the Bushwacker drink. Fun atmosphere around the pool!

  • Jon D.

This place is hysterical. Our boat charter captain told us to go here. And it was fun. The food for what is really a bar with a big outdoor pool / club is good. It's more pub food with an island flair. The service was quick even with all the commotion. The funny part of this place was the pool / club. It was like the key west version of the jersey shore. Lots of hard bodies and tans. Not your characteristic key west vibe. If you are into this scene you will have fun. If you are not but love to people watch as we did you will have a good time. #keywest #dantes #jerseyshore

Shocked that so many complain about the service. Who in the right mind expects fast service in the Keys? The Keys are about lazy afternoons and kick back attitudes. If you want quick service then please jump in your car and drive North for a few hours. Anyways, Dantes gets 4 stars for a reason and one reason only. 3 dollar Stone Claws for happy hour!!!! Stone Claws are a Florida favorite but are so pricey that one seems to plan them around special occasions. Since learning about Dantes we visit every time we are in the Keys and order so many claws that I feel them coming out of my ears. So next time you are in Key West, take that long walk to Dante's happy hour between 4 and 8pm and order bucket loads of claws and beer and worry about the slow service later.

Good booze and a pool. I need to review this place? Food was very "out of the package" and corporate. Drinks were good, scenery was nice.

Food and drinks were just ok, nothing great. We arrived for dinner at 7:00, but place was empty (we were the only people there). Hog Fish portion was small for $26. Burger was good but $14 is a bit pricey. Service was good. They should put the "Pool Bar" before the "Restaurant" in their name. Might be fun place to hang out, but would't recommend it for dinner.

Pool side restaurant is definitely good times, its also a great people watching spot. The food here was actually quite good and they have a really great happy hour special for raw items including, oysters, clams and shrimp. Surprisingly enough the Caesar salad and hotwings were also great here. The drinks were also overpriced and watered down. This place is a 5 on food for me but falls short on drinks and service. I went here on two occasions, once to scout it out and the other time when i brought my wedding party of 20 people here. The first time the girl at the bar hardly acknowledged us and the second time the girl who waited on us was a total bitch if we got shots at the bar which wasn't going on her tab. Relax lady you're getting at least 1k from my group and you should be ok that we didn't want to wait 15 minutes for shots. The place is a bit edgy so maybe thats their thing, but just be warned that you go here for the food and atmosphere, the unfriendly service is just part of the package. Also the DJ on Friday played a shitload of 80s music so that would be enough to come back.

I have lived in Key West for over 7 years. Their service and food are consistent and delicious. The specials are actually special and provide variety. I have tried almost everything on the menu and have not had anything I disliked. I LOVE the BBQ Chicken Quesadilla, the Club, the Catch Sandwich, and any of their burgers.

3.5 Stars Service: 4.5 Despite what others have written about, we had excellent service here. Got slower as the day wore on, but it also got 20 times busier. Can't blame the bar maid for trying to keep up with all the tipsy customers around the pool! Food: 3 Typical bar food. We ordered the stone crab claws (expensive as always, yet tasty), and the fried conch platter. Huge portion and very tasty fries always gets good reviews from me! Ambiance: 4 We can thank Jersey Shore for making all 20-something boys think they can be meat head jackasses. Hence 65% of the population at this bar. Good DJ, though. The BF and I did manage to snag a few chairs poolside and meet another really nice couple to make fun of all the guido wanna bes! :) However, PLEASE do not bring your children unless you want them exposed to a lot of craziness!! Would definitely go back. If you want a good summertime pool party feel, this place is for you! :)

When you go into these type's of restaurants you can't expect gourmet. This place gives you exactly what you should get. I went here on our girl's trip last week and we had a great time sitting at the bar. Our drinks were well made and the appetizer happy hour specials were great. This is always a nice place to stop into for decent priced drinks and apps.

We ate at the Marina Bar. Parking is nice with an underground garage attached to the restaurant. Service was friendly. We had the smoked fish dip starter, which wasn't very smoky, and the conch fritters starter, which was chewy even for conch. We split a blackened yellowtail sandwich. The fish was good but not generous. The ciabatta bread was dry. The fries were very good, sliced fried potatoes, crispy and fresh. The food was okay, but just okay. Pricey for what you got. Location is great right on the marina. Pool is pretty. Large crowd, loud music, a very young place.

Great food and outdoor space. Free use of the pool if you're buying food or drinks! Awesome! Definitely worth a stop if you're in Key West. The pool alone is worth it! Stopped in after a snorkeling trip with Sebago. Our captain recommended this place and sure enough, we ran into him later. Great food! Good service! Great atmosphere!

Two visits for lunch. This is cool as they have a pool you can swim in before, during or after you eat. I took advantage of the pool on my second visit. Food: stay away from the raw oysters - they were tasteless and I wouldn't order them again. I had the Fresh Catch Sandwich - yellowtail was the fish of the day. You can have it grilled, fried or blackened. I went with grilled. The fish was very , and it came with these delicious hand-cut fries. Second visit I had the Fish Tacos - flour tortillas filled with the catch of the day (I can't remember what fish it was!). Also pretty tasty. Inexpensive, basic food. It was okay.

Dante's is an outdoor restaurant/bar with a public pool; hard to beat that. If you go fishing in KW, you can bring your catch to Dante's and they'll cook it three ways (grilled, blackened and fried) for you. It's $8/person with a few sides so it's a great deal. It is easy to waste an afternoon sitting at the tables and drinking buckets of beer here. Also, the staff is very friendly and our waitress comped us a bucket of beer since we spent so much time there.

If you like standing in piss-warm pool water while drinking Miller Lites with a bunch of drunk meatheads, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, stay far far away. Food was mediocre and overpriced, service was horrible.

All I can say is the servers need to take a course on customer interaction skills. We came to Dante's to have some food, drinks, and to enjoy the pool. The property looks nice right on the water. We were a party of 7 who were ready and willing to spend some money over the course of a couple of hours so we could eat, drink, and use the pool as mentioned before. We had two people in our party with dietary restrictions who need to bring little snacks with them wherever we go. Lets begin the the problem. We sit ourselves (no host/hostess) and were greeted about 10 minutes later. We ordered 7 drinks and as we were waiting for them we were talking and taking in the sights. Our dietary needs people took out a sandwich and split if in half. Still waiting in our drinks (15 minutes) our waitress comes over and says no outside food allowed. This policy is completely understandable for a restaurant setup like this and I agree. However, we tried to ask if they could just finish their sandwich as they have dietary needs. She said, "well there isn't outside food allowed," and walked away. We watched her walk over to a male (manager?) and talk to him while pointing at us. He walked over and told us (not ask) we have to put away the sandwich. I explained they have dietary needs and we are going to be here for a while and expect to spend money on food and drinks (which by the way it has been over 25 minutes and still waiting on our drinks and were never asked if we wanted to order food). Instead of defusing the situation easily he says, "we don't allow outside food, do you bring a ribeye when you go to Outback?" I became defensive from his blatant lack of care and attitude. I explained that is irrelevant and very rude. I could understand if we came with a full picnic of outside food and set up shop like we were at a BBQ. This was one sandwich cut in half for two dietary needs people. I explained to the guy we would love to order food but haven't even been asked. He became more defensive and said well if you don't like it you can leave. We left. I highly recommend to bring your business somewhere else. Again, I agree with the no outside food policy, but this issue was created by a lack of understanding, care, and staff training. When asked for the manager he said he was. Wow! Again, please do not go here. I am trying to contact the owner to make him/her aware of the uncaring staff.

So, this place is really great for chilling out, getting some ice cold beers/drinks, and being able to take a dip in the huge pool with the waterfall. The food isn't bad-typical bar food. The fish tacos were actually quite tasty, and the conch fritters were decent enough. In typical Florida style, the portions are huge, so you'll be full. Awesome place for going with a group, listening to some live music, eating, drinking, cooling out, and enjoying the merriment!

  • Jordan V.

Dante's is in one of the best locations in Key West! Impressively the live music, pool, waterfall, and being right on the ocean is what makes this restaurant a place to lounge and have drinks and good food. I thought the beer was a bit pricey, $4.75 for a small cup, but the food is fresh, tastey, and the menu doesn't stick to the norm of bar food. I had the fried Calimari which was cooked perfectly, and their tarter sauce is the best I've ever had! Their burgers are HUGE, so bring you appetite! I would go again, this place is about 3 blocks north of Duval, but has enough around the area to keep you entertained.

This is a little late but back in Feb my wife and I held a welcome reception here for guests of our wedding. It was for 65 guests. Dante's did an amazing job. They were very on top of their service but were unintrusive to the point where they didn't really seem there, the food was excellent (mind you we are italian families from New York & New Jersey that both have great cooks so we aren't easy to please) and the resraurant was just what we were looking for, an outdoor and relaxed enviornment with a Key West feel to it. Dante's was very accomodating/flexible in working on the menu selections. We had such a great time that about 15 of us went back a few days later to watch the super bowl!

  • Alice S.

With a party of 5, we had mixed reviews. My peel&eat shrimp we're fresh and delicious. Those who got sandwiches said the bread was too much & tasteless. My husband had the appetizer tuna and it was the best thing on the table. The french fries were GREAT and i'm a big fan. Rum punch too sweet. We did enjoy the porch setting by a pool. Very nice lunch for hungry bikers.

Stopped by Dante's to kill some time before catching the Ferry, atmosphere really tried hard to give that "Rocking' Pool Party" feeling but it fell a little short, maybe it was the cheesy sampling DJ they had... Anyway, we had the Cracked Conch & an order of Stone Crab Claws, both were good, but the claws were a little on the pricey side. All and all not a bad place to kill some times with some cocktails.

Horrible service...Waited forever for a waiter to take our drink order and then it took a while to get the drinks. At this point I didnt even order food. It took an hour for us to order our drinks and get them...It wasn't busy and I was finished waiting. I asked for our check and waited another 20 minutes...Would not recommend or visit again!

We stopped in here for lunch on a recommendation. Dante's is located near the marina so it's not really within easy walking distance of Duval - but it's worth checking out. It's mostly park benches situated around the pool and there's a DJ cranking beats. You seat yourself. I was surprised our server was so attentive to us because she was cruising all around the pool area but she was friendly and did a good job anyway. We started with a dozen oysters on the half shell. They were some of the best oysters I've had in the past several years. Absolutely delicious, big, and reasonably priced. We also got a foot long dog and a shrimp po boy. They were both great. This place was definitely a pleasant surprise.

Dante's was a great find, seemed to be more of a local hangout but it was great fun.. I loved the fact you could go hang by a pool and drink without having to stay at a hotel. Good food great people watching and when I was there they had a DJ ..loved it! My son had a blast also in the pool. Service was a little slow that is my only complaint.

We heard an ad on the radio; Come to Dante's on Sunday and enjoy Caffeine Carl & The Buzz (a really great band BTW), enjoy food and drinks and receive a special locals / service industry discount. COOL! When we were getting the bill they didn't know anything about the discount. I talked to the server, two bartenders, the manager and some guy named Dale who claimed to be the owner. They ALL refused to adjust the bill and Dale ever said he knew about the ad (he paid for it) but did absolutely nothing to modify it. All he said was that he'd take care of it. How? "I'll take care of it" - No one did. They wouldn't do a thing! I went back to the manager and told him what happened. He just shrugged and said, "what can I do? - He the boss". SLOW SERVICE - TERRIBLE FOLLOWUP - O.K. FOOD - AVERAGE PRICES - ROTTEN MANAGEMENT - APPARENTLY THEY DON't CARE IF CUSTOMERS COME BACK.

A hidden gem! The conch fritters were great although the dipping sauce was a little bland (ask for the dipping sauce for the po' boys instead). Had the shrimp po' boy (with Florida pinks) and the BF had the conch po'boy. We could barely move afterwards. Excellent quality food and a low-key atmosphere. Great break from the nuttiness of Duval Street. Jack the bartender was great. Didn't try the pool but it was a nice feature. Lots of seating. HD tv at bar for football games (a lot of places in Key West do not have HD tv!).

Thanksgiving dinner buffet in a casual way. All the traditional fixings without the stuffyness of a formal big hotel buffet. And a pool for the kids too.

  • Felecia W.

Let me start by saying this... I tried the Conch Fritters at just about every single place I ate in Key West, which was every day for 4 days, sometimes 2xs a day and this place had the best! They also have a HUGE public pool that you can go chill by while sipping on your rum cocktails. They have live music during the day and great servers. Our girl was VERY tolerant of our nonsense. :) If you want to go and hit up the pool, get there early in the day, the lounge chairs get taken up fast, but this place was a nice surprise, I probably wouldnt have found it with out the help of a local. Its worth checking out!

Great pools, fun bar, but afternoon bartender with a nasty attitude. We asked about happy hour specials and she said, "everything behind the bar is 30 to 50 percent off". I was interested in a frozen drink and said, "oh even frozen drinks? She repeated herself with a nasty attitude. I would have been happy to sit there for quite some time ordering frozen drinks but instead had a diet coke while waiting for the ferry. Doubt I'll be back--there are plenty of other places around key west.

One of the coolest bars on the Island. Sunday afternoons feature live music with Caffeine Carl and the Buzz. Allison is a wicked nice bartender. Added bonus they have a pool with a waterfall. Remember to tip well!
